Aramco and Lihytech Collaborate on Lithium Recovery
Aramco, one of the world’s leading integrated energy and chemicals companies, and Saudi Lithium Infinity (Lihytech), an innovative startup incubated by King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), are working together to accelerate the development of Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) technology in Saudi Arabia.
This collaboration aims to support the Kingdom’s growing demand for lithium, essential for advancing the country’s electric vehicle (EV) initiatives as outlined in Vision 2030.

RIYADH, Dec 18 (Reuters) – Saudi Arabia has successfully extracted lithium from brine samples from national giant Aramco’s oilfields and plans to launch a commercial pilot programme for direct extraction soon, the Saudi vice minister of mining affairs said on Tuesday.
Lithium Infinity, also known as Lihytech, a start-up launched out of King Abdullah University for Science and Technology, will lead the extraction project with cooperation from Saudi mining company Ma’aden and Aramco, Khalid al-Mudaifer told Reuters.
